The Clerk’s Office offers the following services:

1) Renewals—If the initial driver license issuance was after 1/1/2001, the applicant must bring current license, State renewal form and proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residence. All renewals prior to 1/1/2001 must bring license and renewal form but need not bring proof of citizenship. (Renewals may also be processed online at www.TennesseeAnytime.org/tndlr.)

2) Duplicates—The applicant must bring two pieces of U.S. Mail containing name and current Tennessee residence. (Duplicates may also be processed online at www.TennesseeAnytime.org/tndlr.)

3) New Tennessee Residents—If moving from another state, applicant must bring current driver license, two pieces of U.S. Mail containing name and current Tennessee residence, and proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residence.

4) Name Change—In addition to bringing two pieces of U. S. Mail containing their name and their current Tennessee residence, the applicant must also bring the original legal document that creates the name change. Copies are never acceptable.

5) Commercial Driver License (CDL)—The Clerk’s office can process CDL Renewals except those with “X” or “H” endorsements.  Applicant must bring current medical card.  Transfers from out-of-state may not be processed.


The Clerk’s office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. These transactions require cash, Mastercard, Visa or Discover.
