Hamilton County Clerk Bill Knowles
announced that his Courthouse office, Room
201, is now equipped to issue certain
state driver licenses. |

The Clerk’s Office offers the following services:
1) Renewals—If the initial driver license issuance
was after 1/1/2001, the applicant must bring current
license, State renewal form and proof of U.S. citizenship or
lawful permanent residence. All renewals prior to 1/1/2001
must bring license and renewal form but need not bring proof
of citizenship. (Renewals may also be processed online at
www.TennesseeAnytime.org/tndlr.)
2) Duplicates—No documentation is needed if the
applicant has their photo in the Department of Safety’s driver
license database. If there is no photo in the system please
bring other proof of identification such as social security
card, birth certificate or passport.

3) Name Change --- (Last Name Only due to
marriage or divorce)—The applicant must bring the original
legal document that creates the name change, such as the court
order, divorce decree or marriage certificate. The State does
not accept copies.
4) Address
Change—The applicant must
bring their current driver
license.
The Clerk’s office is open Monday
through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. These services are
subject to a $4 fee. Transactions
require cash, Mastercard, Visa or Discover.
